Cynthia Curto, APRN
With over a decade of experience of working as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), Cynthia Curto has been providing care to patients at The Urology Center since 2001 and working with The Urology Center physicians since 1990 at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
An ANCC (American Nursing Credentialing Center) board-certified family nurse practitioner, Cyndi has been published and honored with the Medical/Surgical publication award, receiving state recognition for her clinical excellence at Yale.
Graduating with honors from Salve Regina University with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing and a minor in Biology, Cyndi was elected to the academic honor society, Sigma Theta Tau. She later earned her Master's Degree in Nursing at Sacred Heart University.
Cyndi is a member of the Hartford Marathon Foundation and lives in Glastonbury with her husband and three children.
Richard Dean, M.D.
As the senior physician at The Urology Center, Dr. Richard J. Dean's mentorship and years of experience in urology has laid the foundation for the practice, allowing it to achieve the notable status and recognition it enjoys. Board-certified in adult and pediatric urology, Dr. Dean has a strong interest in urinary stone disease and has been in practice for over three decades.
Building strong patient relationships for over 30 years as an attending physician at The Hospital of Saint Raphael and Yale-New Haven Hospital, Dr. Dean is currently serving as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Yale-New Haven Hospital and also serves as Associate Chief of Urology Yale-New Haven Hospital for over 10 years. He is a member of the American Urological Association, American Association of Clinical Urologists and the American Medical Association, as well as numerous medical societies.
Dr. Dean received his undergraduate and medical school degrees from Georgetown University and completed his urology training at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Subsequently, he served two years in the military at Fort Bragg and Womack Army Hospital as a Major in the Medical Corps.
A native of Connecticut, he resides with his wife in Branford. In his free time, Dr. Dean enjoys playing golf.
Ralph J. DeVito M.D.
As one of the senior partners of The Urology Center, Dr. Ralph J. DeVito has played a major role for championing innovative technologies that the practice is recognized for. He has been caring for patients since 1982 and was recognized for his accomplishments by being selected to serve as Chief of Urology for The Hospital of Saint Raphael from 1999-2008. In addition to his work at The Hospital of Saint Raphael, he is an attending physician at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
After completing his undergraduate studies at Hamilton College in New York, Dr. DeVito attended and graduated from Albany Medical School. He served as the Chief Resident of General Surgery at The Hospital of Saint Raphael and completed his urological training at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Dr. DeVito resides in Branford, CT with his wife and two children.
Jessica Fredeen, PA
Jessica Fredeen joined The Urology Center in 2012 after practicing for five years as a PA in the General Surgery department at The Hospital of St. Raphael. She worked with The Urology Center physicians during her tenure at St. Raphael, where her excellent skills as a clinician were noticed.
Jessica provides treatment for the full range non-surgical urological conditions and often serves as the entry point for new patients into the practice. As a skilled diagnostician, she often leads a patient’s work up and, if the need for surgical or sub-specialty intervention is indicated, connects the patient to the urologist who specializes in the patient’s area of need.
Prior to becoming a PA, Jessica worked in medical editing, as well as computer programming. She graduated magna cum laude from St. Olaf College in Minnesota with a double major in English and mathematics. She attended the Physician Associate Program at the Yale School of Medicine, graduating in 2007.
Jessica’s interests include yoga, running, reading, and gardening. She lives in Hamden with her husband and two young children.
David G. Hesse, M.D.
A pioneer in the robotic approach to urological cancer treatment, Dr. David G. Hesse specializes in minimally invasive surgery. Serving on the national proctor panel for robotic surgery, Dr. Hesse is a mentor and teacher for fellow urologists in the field of robotic surgery. With extensive experience in urological cancer treatment, Dr. Hesse utilizes state-of-the art surgical techniques that include nerve sparing radical prostate surgery and creating artificial bladders after radical bladder surgery.
Board-certified by the American Urological Association, Dr. Hesse has privileges at both Yale-New Haven Hospital and the Hospital of Saint Raphael.
Dr. Hesse graduated cum laude from Brandeis University in Massachusetts and received his medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine, where he was honored with the highest scholastic award, the Faculty Award for Excellence. His residency in urology was performed at The Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and The New York Hospital - Cornell Medical Center, where he was Chief Resident.
Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, Dr. David G. Hesse resides in Branford with his wife and three children.
Stanton Honig, M.D.
A nationally recognized leader in the field of fertility and sexual dysfunction, Dr. Honig possesses extensive knowledge and skill in the treatment of male fertility disorders and sexual dysfunction and is one of the few specialists in Connecticut to utilize microsurgery as a treatment approach in these areas.
As an acknowledged leader in the field of fertility, Dr, Honig presents at various national meetings and conferences, including the American Urological Association, as well as other distinguished medical organizations. He continues to author articles, papers, presentations and textbook chapters. He has been a significant contributor to the Journal of Urology, Fertility and Sterility and Urology and has served on the editorial board of the American Journal for Urological Review.
In addition to his duties as an attending urologist at both Hospital of Saint Raphael and Yale-New Haven Hospital, Dr Honig is an Associate Clinical Professor of Surgery/Urology and Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine.
Dr. Honig is a graduate of the State University of New York at Binghamton and received his medical degree at SUNY/Stonybrook School of Medicine with distinction in research. Dr. Honig completed his urological training at Boston University Hospital, which was followed by the successful completion of a fellowship in Male Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
Away from the office, Dr. Honig is an avid backpacker, hiker and tennis player.
Mary Grey Maher, M.D.
Dr. Mary Grey Maher is one of the area's few board certified urologists who is fellowship trained in female urology. Specializing in the care of women's urological problems, including urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse, she also offers much expertise in general urology and male urological dysfunction.
Dr. Maher earned her medical degree at Yale University School of Medicine and completed her residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven, CT. She completed a fellowship in Female Urology, Reconstructive Surgery and Urodynamics at UCLA Medical Center in California and is an attending physician at both Yale-New Haven Hospital and the Hospital of Saint Raphael.
A native of Connecticut, Dr. Maher resides in New Haven with her husband and two children.
Thomas V. Martin, M.D.
Dr. Thomas Martin is an acknowledged leader in the specialty of minimally invasive surgery and is a mentor and trainer to fellow urologists throughout the country in this field. Performing endoscopic, laparoscopic and robotic minimally invasive surgical treatments for a full range of urological conditions, Dr. Martin's approach minimizes patients' discomfort and hospitalization time, while accelerating recovery.
Dr. Martin offers an extensive range of laboratory and clinical research experience, having written numerous articles and text book chapters on laparoscopic surgery, shock wave lithotripsy, urinary stone disease and innovative treatments for benign prostate hyperplasia, including microwave laser and electrosurgical technologies.
Graduating magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Georgetown University, Dr. Martin received his medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. After completing his urology residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital, Dr. Martin pursued and completed a fellowship in laparoscopic and endoscopic urologic surgery at New York Hospital / Cornell University Medical Center. He is board certified in urology and is an attending physician at both Hospital of Saint Raphael and Yale New Haven Hospital.
A native of Connecticut, Dr. Martin resides in Madison with his wife and two children.
