The Urology Center — Top Doctors Again in 2012

The Urology Center is honored to have three members of its practice – Drs. Richard J. Dean, David G. Hesse and Thomas V. Martin – recognized as "Top Docs." They credit the success of their practice to the experience, expertise and dedication to patient care of all six doctors at the center. Being part of a larger group allows each physician to focus on a particular specialty, including infertility, urological cancers, incontinence, stone disease and benign prostatic hyperplasia. Affiliated with the Hospital of Saint Raphael and Yale-New Haven, The Urology Center was southern Connecticut's first practice to initiate robotic surgery to treat prostate cancer, and is one of the few nationally to use robotic surgery to treat bladder cancer.
DR. RICHARD J. DEAN (right) received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed his residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital. The senior member of the practice as well as associate chief of urology at Yale-New Haven Hospital and assistant clinical professor at the Yale School of Medicine, he has played a major role in shaping the practice into one of the state's premier urology practices.
DR. DAVID G. HESSE (left) received his medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine and completed residencies at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center.
DR. THOMAS V. MARTIN (center) received his medical degree from the UConn School of Medicine and completed his residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital and fellowship at New York Hospital-Cornell. Drs. Hesse and Martin are recognized experts in urologic oncology and leaders in the robotic surgical approach to prostate, bladder and kidney cancers. All three physicians are Diplomats of the American Board of Urology.
"The Urology Center," says Dr. Dean, "takes pride in offering sensitive, thoughtful, compassionate care for patients of all ages."
